Chicks to Chickens

Had the opportunity to speak to some younger people last week. It was an interesting experience. The most interesting part was seeing the children I had taught as a sunday school teacher many years back now organizing their own youth program. I had the opportunity to see them do the things we used to do, making appointments, getting speakers and following up to ensure a successful program, even some of these kids were out to the market to shop and organize food stuff for their peers.
Little A.J is now about to write his O' levels exams and asking questions on how to keep a good relationship with the opposite sex. Surprise is a very bad word for what I felt that afternoon, Overghasted is more like it. The encounter is a wake up call.

Life is moving and you had better be moving otherwise if you stay on a spot, the little chicks of yesterday will become chickens and you'll all be on the same level or worst still, you now have to look up to them as a source of inspiration instead of the other way around.
The question now is what am I doing today to equip me for the higher level, to make better and still a source of inspiration to my inspirees in future? Big question but a basic one.
Ask yourself same.

August

The month of August is obviously the 8th month and a very special one for me. My 2 loves were both born in that month. I particularly am fond of August because it is he last month before the 'ber months... thus signifying that we are closer to year end.
It is a time to start reflections for the year end and also not too bad a time to give up on starting a new project before the year ends.
August in Nigeria is a month which accommodates rain in all its glory hence often looked forward to buy those who are sowing. We too can sow something in this month so as to be able to reap a good harvest in the nearest future.
Sow love, patience, kindness, a smile, hug, or gift. Sow a good deed in the 8th month to prepare you for the season of harvest which is ahead.
Watch out for your august visitor...

Right one

Many young people are always looking for the right person without being right themselves. We only attract what we are hence it is not too much of a surprise when we attract the wrong kind of person rather than the perfect picture in our heads.
It is important to be right ourselves. Someone asks, how can that be achieved. Very simple... depending of your picture of the right person in your head, you will need to start ding those very things you would like to be exhibited that right individual. If you want a kind persona, then you must develop same, if you want a rude persona, you must also develop same.
Many people do nothing about themselves but expect to meet extra-ordinary or extremely special people... we fail to realize that life is not a cheat and you'd get what you really deserve.
The charge is to begin working on that right persona we hope/want to see in our loved ones.

Responsibility

It is rather upsetting to put your trust in someone and then they disappoint you at the end of the day. It is high time people learn to be able to stand by their words or better still stand for what they have promised. It all boils down to basic responsibility.
Are we responsible individuals, responsible for our selves and those we love? do we stand by our words and do the things we promised to.
Several of us ruin precious relationships just because we are unable to stand by our words and keep to what we said. This is not about keeping promises or making them. This is about individuals making sure they do anything they say they would. It's as simple as "I'll be there" and then you don't show up and don't even find it appropriate to give a pre-notice.
This kind of behavior extends into the business environment. You tell a customer you will deliver tomorrow and then it takes 4 weeks.
Let's all strive to be as responsible as we can for what we say as we do about our actions too.

2010

Nigeria will be fifty this year. I hope God will be merciful unto us as we celebrate this year of jubilee.
During the year of jubilee the Israelites usually get to have a fresh start at life, God forgives everyone and makes them prosper. We are here O Lord! please be merciful unto your children, blot out our sins or transgressions.
Let there be a better future for our children and upcoming generations. Preserve us too so as not to suffer the sins of our fore-fathers.
Have mercy Lord, hear us O Lord we pray thee.
